Privacy Policy

Headsure is committed to protecting your privacy and confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and is focused on ensuring that any personal, confidential, or other sensitive information you provide to us is not used for any purpose other than as intended and expected by you.  This Privacy Policy describes our current policies and practices in relation to the handling and use of personal information.

 

What information do we collect and how do we use it?

We collect personal information which is relevant to providing general insurance products and services. To enable us to provide these products and services, we collect information needed by ourselves to ensure appropriate advice is provided to you and information required by product suppliers. We will usually provide some, or all, of this information to our product suppliers. Some of these suppliers may be located outside of Australia.

When a claim is made under a general insurance policy, to enable us to assist in the claim process, we and our representatives and those of the insurer (such as loss adjusters, investigators, medical advisers and lawyers) collect information about the claim, some of which may be personal information. We may collect this information from you or from third parties. We provide this information to the insurer and those appointed to assist you in making a claim. This information may be passed on to their reinsurers.

We may also use your personal information internally to help us improve our services and help resolve any problems.

 

What if you do not provide some information to us?

We can only apply for and arrange general insurance products on your behalf if we have all the information required by us and the suppliers. Insurance law also requires you to provide all the information requested by the insurer to help them decide whether to insure you and on what terms. Credit providers, such as premium funders, also require specific information to help them assess any credit applications we may facilitate on your behalf.  If you do not provide us with the required information, we will not be able to arrange these products on your behalf.

 

Will we disclose the information we collect to anyone?

We may disclose or give access to the information we collect from you to:

  • Insurers, underwriting agencies, wholesale brokers and reinsurers for the purpose of helping them assess your risk or for making a claim
  • Premium funders for the purpose of obtaining quotations for funding your insurance premium
  • Investigators, assessors, health authorities, lawyers, accountants, medical practitioners, hospitals or other professional advisers for the purposes of investigating or assessing your claim
  • Lawyers or recovery agents for the purpose of defending an action by a third party against you or recovering your costs including your excess
  • Contractors who supply services to us such technology service providers
  • An immediate family member of yours
  • Other companies if Headsure is sold or merges with another company, enters a joint venture or similar event

however, we will always use our best endeavors to ensure that these other parties protect your information in the same way that we do.

We may also provide this information to others if we are required to do so by law or under some unusual other circumstances which the Privacy Act permits.

We will not sell, trade, or rent your personal or other information to others.

 

How can you check, update or change your information?

Upon receipt of your written request and enough information to allow us to identify your information, we will disclose to you the personal information we hold about you. We will also correct, amend or delete any personal information that we agree is inaccurate.

Headsure do not charge a fee for responding to a request for access to personal information or for complying with a correction request.  We do however reserve the right to charge you for any reasonable costs we incur in specifically meeting your request for information.
